Workshops, gatherings and online classes
I teach local classes in the spring, summer and fall months and I am also open to travelling and teaching private groups if there are people interested. If hosting a workshop is something you’d like to explore please contact me through email.
Many of my classes are taught as part of various earth skills gatherings. I choose these gatherings as a venue to teach because they promote a sense of community as well as promote other pathways to connect with the earth and each other, experiences that I feel are so important for everyone these days in our modern society.
Pottery and Basketry
Boulder, Utah
May 10-16, 2026
Join us for this rare opportunity to learn both pottery and willow basketry from Kayenta Fire and Emily Bartle in a back to back workshop and nature connection experience!
This will be an incredible collaboration of two experts in their fields (as well as other nature skills, survival, friction fire, navigation, and more).
This week long, co-facilitated workshop will be set in the scenic desert of Boulder, Utah. Class will begin Sunday with primitive pottery, lead by Kayenta and assisted by Emily, and cover all the steps involved with reading the landscape, identifying and field testing clay, hand-building techniques, painting with wild harvested materials and pit firing. Basketry will begin midweek and Emily will lead the group, assisted by Kayenta, to make beautiful and functional pack baskets from willow. Both pottery and basketry will be 3-3.5 days, with a half day set aside for a group walkabout and connecting with the group and landscape. Schedule will be fluid and adapted to the needs of the group. This is essentially two workshops in one and will be a one of a kind experience and the price reflects this.
